Kao Kalia Yang Reads Her New Book at Txuj Ci Lower Campus

Kao Kalia Yang reads at Txuj Ci

Noted author and SPPS alumna Kao Kalia Yang visited Txuj Ci HMong Language and Culture Lower Campus last week to read her new book, A Home on the Page. She was joined by Ethiopian American novelist Dinaw Mengestu, who read Yang's book The Blue House I Loved.

The event was made possible by Pen America, which also donated 700 Kao Kalia Yang books to the school so that students could take one home. Additionally, students enrolled in temporary virtual learning were able to watch the assembly.

A Home on the Page is a children's picture book about a young Hmong girl named Nou who confronts racism after finding a hateful message on her mailbox, leading her to discover that home can be found in family, stories, and imagination.
